DREAM JOB

What does it really mean to find one’s “dream job” ? For every person, the description of their job is different but equally exciting.

     Pauline's job

I’m going to present my job which I have done for few years. It’s an international job. I design houses with biomaterials in terms of the environment. Moreover I take the views of clients and the character of the place into consideration. I buy houses in different countries so I travel a lot.

I get the job with scientist preparatory classes during two years, then I studied engineering during three years.

In this job, I enjoy travelling in different countries, I like to discover new costumes and to adapt the conception to the country in which I work and adapt to the kind of life.

In an average day, I start at nine and I fly to a new destination for a new project or I continue a project. If the project is in progress, I consult the construction site and I think to the possible improvements. Then I often do a report to my staff. If it’s a new project, I observe the place and think to the materials adapt to this location.

I think, in the future, it will be simpler to travel between different countries. Also the biomaterials will be developed.

Finally, I would give advice to someone who wanted to do my job, I think it needs to have good interpersonal skills, like travel and not have a permanent home over it needs to adapt to the various situations and have a bit of imagination. This line of business is in expansion so it will be more prominent in the future.

Laura's job:
I am going to present my job, that it's really my dream job. So I am an aeronautic engineer more specifically director of international projects.

To do this job you have to work a lot and have a lot of motivation and passion. I was two years intensive undergraduate studies and gone to Toulouse the best aeronautic city. I love my job because I love travel ans do not all the time the same thing, I don’t want routine. A lot of person ask me what I would like to change in my job, and of course I want to change anything because it’s my dream job.

During an average day I go to work at 9:00 AM and I do a meeting with my team to talk about our different projects and our difficult, the team mind it’s very important when you are an engineer.

In the afternoon I go directly in my different projects outside. Sometimes I go in other countries to discover technology and different kind of work and share our discovers.

So I think my job is an incredible job, for me work in aeronautic it’s like a dream, I don't know if you imagine, if you do this job you succeed to do fly a huge thing like a plane.

Wah everyday I am shocked, we are the future .

Paul's job :

My job is to create some materials for extreme sport. I work in a desk first to design what I want to create. Then I make it in a laboratory and finally, I test it outside. To have this job, I integrated a French graduate school specialized in electronics, mecanics and materials. Then I create my own company. In this job, I like the diversity of my tasks, traveling arround the world and having fun with my own creations.

In this job, I do many experiments in chemistry and mecanics. With my construction, I want to discover the world with a new vison. In my daily life, I wake up at 7'30 to be in my company in 8'30. after read and answer e-mail, I'll go see speak and work with my team to check what we need to do in the morning. It could be finish the design, find ideas for an other material, or prepare a crash test to calculate the consequence of an accident, etc… I take a break arround 12 a.m. The afternoon, we continue what we start the morning, and contact sponsor to have money or materials necessary to producte what we want. I leave the company between 6 p.m and 9 p.m, depend of the work we have.

MATHILDE'S JOB

We are in 2025 and I work in the Aerospatiale and aeronautic industry in South Africa. I work sometimes on planes or sometimes on satellites. I am a mechanic and materials engineer. I choose this job because it’s a little bit magic and incredible and I want to discover the world.

In the company where I work, we can change some things, maybe a day we can travel to the Moon or to another planet. Moreover, we search to create planes which less pollute the atmosphere.

During an average day, I wake up at 6:30 am and at 8am I am in my office, I check and answer at my emails. Then I go in the laboratory and I do experiences and increase my precedent works.

So follow your dream, everything is possible…

Romain's Job

When I'll be older, I would like become a chemistry engineer working in the research community.

In fact, I dream to train in a laboratory in order to discover new physical and chemical properties which could be interesting in our daily life. For example, it could be discoveries in the medical field.

In order to get my job, I should integrate scholls as ENSACIET in Toulouse, PHELMA in Grenoble, or ENSCBP in Bordeaux.

How do I imagine my average day ? I thinnk that my job will really be turned on the experimentation. Everyday, I will have to synthetize the different results I've obtained during my tests. Of course , my working life will be very rewarding and sportive and I hope get a job where the stress is low to have time to make sport : an healyhy mind in a healthy body ! I think my job will not change a lot in the future because there will always be new things to discover. The only difference is what we will learn about our Earth, or our boby.

To conclude, I advice to someone who would want to get my job to be very curious about what is around us and to read or to watch many scientific magazines or programs.

JORIS'S JOB

Maybe one day, I will work in the space industry.

Indeed, a dream job is, for me to help to the building of a rocket, and to be a very important person for the good development of the mission.

From my youngest years, I'm very interesting by the space mystery, and I always dream to be in the operation room and to jump fo joy, seeing that “my” rocket doesn't explodes when it taking; I think that it's the best emotion of the work: the feeling of the work well done.

Maybe one day, after my studies, I will be in this room. I hope that. I want it

LUCAS'S JOB :

For a long time I would like to work in the field of industry because I like management or the

organization. I would like also to integrate a scientific graduate school like Phelma in the city of

Grenoble for example. During an average day I would like to move, to go outside and to communicate

with other but without going so often faraway. In fact I don't want to be so far of my family and my

home. I would like to begin and finish the work early in order to have free time for me to do sport or

activities after work for example. I would like to decide of my own Schedule and to be the master of

my timetable so concretely my dream job is to be the boss of a big industry. I think it's a job on which

I could thrive.

CAROLINE'S JOB :

Like my childhood dream, I managed to get my place within the scientific community. I work in one of the greatest laboratories of L’Oréal Paris, in the USA (more precisely in NY). I’m responsible for research and I manage a team of 20 people. Recently, I had the opportunity to create my own range of natural products. Most of the time, I experiment new processes and search for the best way to reduce the “environmental footprint” of the cosmetic industry : that’s why, I wanted to make this new range.

For more understanding, I did various internships in a lot of cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies, which helped me for my specialization in biotechnologies, chemistry and bioprocesses.

Thanks to my master’s degree in chemical engineering at the Graduate School of Phelma, I’m able to work in team as well as by myself. Every day is different because the work is very diversified but, generally, in the morning, I check my emails or orders (administration) and I organise my team for the day.

This sector is in full expansion, we need people who are motivated and enthusiastic. You must like team-work and work inside like in laboratories. International mobility is staple in order to know new products or processes, and for your personal knowledge. The World is constantly changing : chemistry and biomaterials represent the future and a broad and diversified sector with many possibilities of evolution.
